How to support our activities
Calderdale ISM was set up to publicise the activities of ISM, to support the Palestinian cause and to collect money to help finance volunteers and to provide them with some of the tools they need to work such as mobile phones and cameras. Many of the volunteers are young and have little money. They all buy their own tickets to Israel and once there pay for taxis to get around and to buy food. We also try to support the local organisation which organises training for volunteers and the support which they receive in the places to which they are sent.
Calderdale ISM has also supported palestinian film maker and ISM activist Osama Qashoo. We agreed to sponser him on a course at the National Firm and Television School in London.
We are currently supporting Abla, a nurse from the West Bank who is studying for a Masters in Public Heath at Al Quds University, Jerusalem.
In the space of about 1½ months, people from West Yorkshire and their friends and family from all over the place, have raised £2600 for Abla's first semester, covering her Uni fees, her books, her travel, & support for Abla & her family, There are 4 semesters to go!
Please send donations to Abla's Fund, c/Currawong, P.O. Box 54, Hebden Bridge, HX7 6WY. Please make cheques payable to 'Calderdale ISM'.
We will send you details of how the money is spent.
No one who has ever worked with ISM can ever forget the welcome given by the Palestinians, by their bravery and their ability to rise above what is being done to them and still be loving humans beings. They need our support.
