About CAW
Calderdale Against the War is a coalition of groups and individuals, mainly from Calderdale,
West Yorkshire. We are working to achieve justice and peace, following
the terrible events of September 11th and the US Governments
brutal response. We have campaigned actively against the wars
against
Afghanistan and Iraq. While we do not condone or support dictatorships
or totalitarian regimes, we will continue to oppose any extension
of the so called 'War on Terror' and the catastrophic effects on
the lives of innocent people that would be the inevitable result.
Since its inception in September 2001, Calderdale Against the War
has widened its scope from campaigning against American military
aggression, to cover the occupation of Palestine, and other injustices.

The Todmorden Group for Understanding, Co-operation,
and Justice is another local group that developed post September
11th. The group meets regularly, and has organised a series of discussion
events, with invited speakers. Topics have included 'Food, Power,
People and Poverty', and discussions about the Arms Trade. The
group has also organised a series of film showings at the Hebden
Bridge Picture House. Keep an eye on local press or our events
calendar for details. Future events are planned. For more information

01706 814988.
Local people from the Calder Valley have also been active on the ground
in Palestine, acting as International observers as part of the
International
Solidarity Movement (ISM). To support this, a local ISM group has
been formed. Visit
www.calderdale-ism.org.uk for details.
